Duty Free
The following goods can be imported into Thailand without incurring customs duty by any persons, irrespective of age:
- 250 grams of tobacco or 200 cigarettes or an equal weight of cigars
- 1 Litre of alcoholic liquor
Thailand’s Prohibited Imports
There are restrictions on the import and export of illegal drugs and all ammunition and firearms. The export of archaeological items or anything that has historical value, images of the Buddha and religious artefacts will require a certificate of authorisation from the Department of Fine Arts in Thailand.
Plant and living materials, live animals or products, radio transceiver, medicines and chemicals will also need a permit from the relevant government agency.
Any drug related offences in Thailand will be severely punished and could result in life in imprisonment or the death penalty.
